1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)
1 large egg
3/4 cup of buttermilk
1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Generously grease your heart-shaped donut pan with cooking spray or butter.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
In another bowl, beat the egg and whisk in the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Using a piping bag or zip-top bag, pipe the batter into each heart-shaped cavity about 2/3 full.
Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a glaze before serving.
