2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of warm water (about 110°F)
2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of olive oil
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon of dried oregano or Italian seasoning
1 can (15 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon of dried basil or a handful of fresh basil, chopped
1 teaspoon of sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture along with olive oil. Stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
Dust a clean surface with flour, and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a small bowl, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix in the minced garlic and oregano.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Cut into strips.
Brush the garlic butter over the dough sticks, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
While the breadsticks are baking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove breadsticks from the oven, let them cool for a minute, and serve with marinara dip.
