2 chai tea bags
2 cups of water
1 cup of fresh cherries (pitted)
1 cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy)
¼ cup of simple syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Ice cubes as needed
Instructions
Start by boiling 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Once it reaches a rolling boil, remove it from heat and add in the chai tea bags. Let it steep for 5-7 minutes.
In a blender, combine 1 cup of pitted fresh cherries with about ¼ cup of the steeped chai. Blend until smooth.
Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the cherry mixture into a bowl, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
In a large pitcher, add the strained cherry puree, the remaining brewed chai, 1 cup of milk, ¼ cup of simple syrup, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.
Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled cherry chai over the ice.
