Ingredients
Scale
1 cup sushi rice (short grain)
1 ¼ cups water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
8 slices of prosciutto
1 ball of fresh burrata cheese
½ cup arugula or spinach (for freshness)
1 ripe tomato, thinly sliced
Fresh basil leaves (for serving)
Olive oil (for drizzling)
Balsamic reduction (optional for finishing)
Instructions
Rinse 1 cup of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and 1 ¼ cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring it to a boil, lower the heat, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Gently fold this mixture into the rice after it’s cooled.
Place a sushi mat or a clean kitchen towel on a flat surface. With damp hands, spread a thin layer of rice over the mat, leaving about an inch at the top.
Lay down 1-2 slices of prosciutto over the rice, followed by a dollop of burrata, a few arugula leaves, and a slice of tomato.
Starting from the bottom of the mat, roll it tightly away from you, applying gentle pressure. Wet the edge slightly with water to seal the roll.
Use a sharp knife to slice your sushi into bite-sized pieces. Arrange them on a platter, drizzle with olive oil, and balsamic reduction if desired.
Notes
A unique blend of traditional Italian ingredients with a hint of sushi flair, creating a beautiful balance of creamy, salty, and fresh flavors.
