Description

Savor this Mississippi Mud Pie recipe, a perfect blend of rich chocolate, creamy layers, and delightful textures for a truly indulgent dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups of chocolate cookie crumbs
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • Chocolate shavings or mini marshmallows for garnish (optional)

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar until well mixed. The texture should resemble wet sand.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie pan and press it firmly into the bottom and up the sides. Bake for about 10 minutes until set. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and flour until smooth. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract and melted butter. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into the cooled crust, smoothing it out evenly. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the filling is set around the edges but slightly wobbly in the center.
  • Let the pie cool to room temperature before refrigerating it for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
  • Once chilled, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread this over the top of the pie.
  • Garnish with chocolate shavings or mini marshmallows, if desired.
  • Serve chilled, optionally with a cup of coffee or vanilla ice cream.
