2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups of granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of almond extract
Royal icing (for decoration)
Gel food coloring (in your choice of floral shades)
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until just combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed.
Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Roll out one disc of dough to about ¼ inch thick and use cookie cutters to create shapes.
Place the cut cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Once baked, allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
For the icing, whisk egg whites with lemon juice or vinegar and gradually add powdered sugar until thick.
Decorate with royal icing using piping bags, creating beautiful floral designs.
