  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 12 tablespoons of chili powder

  • Thinly sliced cabbage, for garnish

  • Instructions

  • Prepare the Pork: In a large pot, add your chunks of pork shoulder, quartered onion, crushed garlic, oregano, cumin, and a sprinkle of salt. Cover everything with your chicken broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Shred the Meat: Once the pork is cooked and tender, remove it from the pot and use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
  • Add the Hominy: To the same pot filled with the delicious broth, add the drained hominy and some chili powder. Stir gently and let it cook for another 30 minutes.
  • Combine: Return the shredded pork to the pot and stir. Allow all those beautiful flavors to meld together for another 10 minutes.
