Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Onions: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

- Melt the Cheese: Lower the heat and place the cheese slices over the steak. Cover for 1-2 minutes until melted.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Toast the hoagie rolls if desired. Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on each roll. Add the steak, caramelized onions, and any extra toppings you like.
- Serve: Slice in half and enjoy hot!
Notes
- Add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor.
- Swap provolone for cheddar or pepper jack for a different taste.
