Ingredients
Scale
2 to 3 pounds of beef chuck roast
1 large onion, finely chopped
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt to taste
Sandwich buns
Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, jalapeños, or sliced cheese
Instructions
Start by patting your chuck roast dry with paper towels. If you want to sear it first, heat a bit of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown each side for 3-4 minutes. But searing is optional!
In your slow cooker, add the chopped onion and garlic. Place the beef on top and pour the beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and smoked paprika over everything.
Sprinkle salt to taste, adjusting later if necessary.
Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours.
Once cooked, use two forks to shred the beef right in the slow cooker and mix it with the juices.
Scoop a generous helping of shredded beef onto the buns, adding toppings as desired.
