Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz macaroni or elbow pasta
  • 1 lb chopped steak (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

  • Instructions

  • Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Once ready, drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add the chopped steak. Cook until it’s browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • While the steak is cooking, steam the broccoli florets until tender, approximately 5 minutes.
  • In the same skillet where you cooked the steak, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until golden. Gradually add in the milk, whisking continuously, until the sauce thickens, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Once the cheese sauce is ready, stir in 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar and mix until melted. Then, return the drained macaroni, cooked steak, and steamed broccoli to the skillet. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Transfer the mac mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
